Ferrari has always been synonymous to Formula 1 racing. In fact, Ferrari’s F1 involvement has spanned 60 years, an achievement that is nothing to sneeze at. To commemorate this, Ferrari has created a limited edition model. This car is the Ferrari 599 GTB 60F1.

Classic Styling

The 60F1 is part of Ferrari’s new Tailor Made program that encourages clients to personalize their car according to their own specification. This customization is not new to Ferrari as it has existed in the 50s and 60s.

Now, with the Tailor Made program, this exclusive feature is making a comeback, allowing clients to select all kinds of options to make their ride stand out and make it completely theirs. Everything from the outside to the inside can be customized, with near-infinite combinations possible.

As for the 60F1 itself, it uses the sublime 599 GTB as the base for this creation. This is then equipped with an HGTE package which features a lower ride stance, stiffer suspension settings, and tires with stronger grip. There are 3 liveries used for this special model, reliving 2 distinct generations of Ferrari’s F1 history.

Interior & Exterior

The 375F1 livery is a salute to the first win of the Ferrari Formula 1 program, achieved by Froilan Gonzalez at Silverstone in 1951. The 150 Italia meanwhile, is a salute to Fernando Alonso’s win in 2011 at Silverstone, exactly 60 years after that landmark first victory. A race ready interior complete with racing seats, safety harnesses, and Alcantara trim is standard equipment for all 60F1 models.

2012 Donkervoort D8 GTO, the product, review, performance

The Donkervoort D8 GTO is the product of 2-1/2 years of development. A joint project between Donkervoort and Audi, this car is a combination of high power and superior performance.

Exterior
The D8 GTO is significantly bigger than its D8 siblings, the GT coupe and the 270RS convertible. But the size is not just the new element in this new age road/track weapon. Technology honed from the aviation and aerospace industry, only a few parts were actually held over from the previous D8 cars.

Longer by 35 centimeters and wider by 15 centimeters, it has made possible 2 things, a more proportioned stance for better handling, and larger space to shoehorn into the hood a larger engine. But the innovations don’t end there. With a steel tubular frame and a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum body panels, the Donkervoort D8 GTO is somehow lighter and yet more rigid and safe.

Performance
And put a larger engine they did. The D8 GTO is equipped with an all new Audi engine. The 2.5 liter engine featuring a turbocharger and FSI direct injection, the engine produces a robust 340 horsepower. Not only that, by changing important components on the engine, this motor somehow weighs 30 kilos less than the engine wherein it was derived. This was made possible by attaching a new intake manifold, among other things.

No wonder Joos Donkervoort thinks that the D8 GTO is a milestone in his company’s 34 year history. And others also think so, with the first 25 D8 GTOs managed to sell within a few hours from release.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Concept

Kids have toys that they grow up looking up to as important during their childhood. Especially for those born in the 1960s, they often involve the Chevrolet Camaro and Hot Wheels. So just imagine if these 2 legendary brand names unite for one project? In 2011, they did just that, producing something that should bring forth nostalgia. This project is the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Concept.

Not Just a Toy

This unique Camaro concept is collaboration between General Motors and Hot Wheels design studios have united to create something that salute the origins of both the toy company and the car.

The inspiration for this project is a 1968 Camaro replica produced by Hot Wheels on the same year. This Camaro replica car is one of the 16 original Hot Wheels cars produced when they opened shop in 1968. The idea was to produce a real-life “Custom Camaro”, and they have accomplished just that.

Custom Graphics

The initial process was the sharing of ideas by the designers of both camps until they have arrived into what they think is the best design. This 2011 Camaro was a faithful replica of the ’68 “Custom”. The flat black graphics, the redline tires, and of course, the Spectraflame paint job, are all there.

Painting the car is quite a complicated process, because reproducing the chrome effect in such a large scale was difficult. But when it all came together, it was more than worth it. The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Concept made its debut in the 2011 SEMA Car Show, much to the joy of both Chevrolet and Hot Wheels fans.

2011 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Concept

The Chevrolet Camaro, true to its tradition as a muscle car, is quite an active participant on the drag racing circuit even during the first time it hit the streets. And the most hardcore of Camaro fans know about the COPO (Central Office Production Order), a special model released in the ‘60s specifically designed to compete in Stock Eliminator division of the NHRA Drag Racing circuit. Chevrolet has now revived the COPO name tag in the 2011 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Concept.

Exterior & Interior

This concept managed to be a salute to Camaro heritage and a sneak peek on what lies ahead for the Camaro product line. While the COPO name tag serves to harken back to the time of the special order models of 1969, this concept is as track ready as it gets. In fact, this car is an obvious indicator that Chevrolet wants the Camaro to come back on the drag racing circuit.

Performance

The engine bay can accommodate 2 types of engines: a 5.3 liter supercharged engine and a 7.0 liter normally aspirated engine, both apparently tuned for drag racing purposes. Additional equipment include a full roll cage, a pair of lightweight seats, a Custom Aeromotive fuel system, a NHRA compliant suspension kit, racing brakes, and race ready tires.

The 2011 Chevrolet COPO Camaro Concept is strictly business both inside and out. Even better is that it seems that the release of this concept into production seems to be more like a question of when than if. The drag-ready Camaro is about to return in action.
