Only 18 months have passed since its production began and Chrysler managed to hit its first major milestone with the manufacturing of the 1,000,000th new Pentastar V6.

The engine, which is also produced at Chrysler’s plant in Saltillo, Mexico, can be found in the Chrysler 200, 300, Town and Country, the Dodge Avenger, Durango, Charger, Challenger, Caravan and the 2012 Jeep Wrangler.

“The Pentastar engine is a cornerstone of Chrysler Group’s effort to reinvent its business model with world class quality products. This award-winning engine is proof that the Company is transforming it products to meet the needs of our customers,” said Brian Harlow, Vice President, Head of Powertrain Manufacturing, Chrysler Group LLC.

This more powerful and fuel efficient 3.6-liter engine has replaced, for the last 18 months, the six legacy V6 engines (from 2.7-liter to 4.0-liter). Believe it or not this new engine has 32 parts, compared to 189 from the other engines.

“To build one million of anything, and in an impressively short amount of time, is a significant achievement. But to do it with such a high degree of quality is a testament to our skilled and dedicated workforce at both Trenton South and Saltillo engine plants,” said Harlow.
