On the Paris Auto Show last september Venturi Monaco car maker company unveiled a new electric powered concept with part sports car and part beach buggy. The manufacturer of limited-production electric vehicles has previously shown the Volage, Eclectic, Astrolab and Fetish and now uses its home motor show to reveal the America.
Sporting a raised ride height and open T-top cock pit, the America is a kind of dune buggy powered by a single electric motor. enturi America Concept with 300bhp-plus electric drivetrain from that goes into this. The 54kWh battery pack gives the America a 180-mile range, thanks in part to a lightweight carbon monocoque chassis.
For interior base, 010 Venturi America Concept has would be admirably minimal if things hadn’t got cluttered up around the console screen, but the center tunnel buttons are a chunky, metallic pleasure to behold. The single display in front of the driver will hopefully present information clearly enough to keep your eyes on the road and your hair in the wind.
Interesting at a show stopper, especially as it’s located right next to the massive Lotus display. It won’t get anywhere near production either, which we reckon is confirmed by the fact Venturi says reams about the car without actually saying anything. It offers “unique driving pleasure comprised of precision, acceleration and gliding.”
