The McLaren MP4-12C packs 600 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. It goes 0-124 mph in 9.1 seconds and then onto a top speed of 206 mph. It’s the little brother of the famed McLaren F1, a car that is perhaps one of the top 5 performance automobiles ever built. Therefore when McLaren decided to build the MP4-12C they knew that they had some serious shoes to fill. However where the F1 was on the verge of being a pure race car, the MP4-12C was designed to be a pure sports car that could be used on a daily basis. Chris Harris of Youtube’s DRIVE network recently took McLaren’s new play toy out to give it a proper flogging and came away with some very interesting insights.
