Just when you thought the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG couldn't get any better, Brabus slaps you in the face with its 2012 Brabus Mercedes-Benz CLS Rocket 800. Now if you don't know what Brabus is, you probably don't understand the power behind the brand. I remember that back in the day, Brabus set some pretty interesting records, some of those records are seen below.

1: In 1996, Brabus E V12 achieved world speed record for a street-legal sedan at 205.1 mph.
2: In 2003, Brabus E V12 Biturbo made a new record for a street-legal sedan at 217.6 mph.
3: In 2006, Brabus Rocket (modified CLS) clocked in new record for a street-legal sedan at 225.2 mph.
4: In October 2006, Brabus made another record for a sedan at 227.2 mph.

The Brabus equation equals this: 1 take a Mercedes-Benz model of choice; 2 drop a V12 in; 3 twin turbocharge it; 4 add a body kit, some interior features and new rims and you come up with a Brabus. That's sort of what they did with the new generation 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS Rocket 800 and they pulled it off really well.

The styling is moderately elegant and aggressive, but naturally the 2012 Mercedes-Benz Brabus CLS Rocket 800 leans more towards the sportier end of the spectrum. Some of the more aggressive accents are the Brabus gills on each side which are located behind the front wheel fenders and the sill skirts, which gives the Brabus the appearance of a lower sleeker stance. Additionally, this model has hood scoops and a lower more aggressive bumper.

If I'm perfectly honest, I think some of the body kit accents are a little too much, but I'm sure it will grow on me. What I'm really interested about, however; is the engine. I'm sure that you already know why there's an 800 in the name of this Brabus, but in case you don't, that's how much horsepower this vehicle produces. Well, it actually produces 788 horsepower, but thanks to the wonderful practice of rounding, we have a full 800 horses!

Now, all sarcasm aside, 788 horsepower is still an amazing feat, but what's even more amazing is the amount of torque produced. Grab a hold of something, because just saying it will throw you out of your seat. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz Brabus CLS Rocket 800 produces a whopping 1,047 lb ft of peak torque and it hits you early on at 2,100 rpm. This torque will likely be uncontrollable and keep the tires spinning, so it is reduced electronically to 811 lb-ft.

The above is made possible by the Brabus 800 V12 Biturbo engine, which uses specialized high-tech motor oil from ARAL. This is the first time the Brabus engine specialists have combined this high-end engine with a seven-speed quick-shift gearbox. Gears are shifted by means of shift paddles on the steering wheel or automatically. The Brabus limited-slip differential, available with various final drive ratios, optimizes traction of the rear-wheel-drive car.

The performance figures are baffling. The 2012 Mercedes-Benz Brabus CLS Rocket 800 can reach 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, which is approximately 0.7 seconds faster than the official 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG, but high end speed is where this car flexes its muscle. Specifically, this Brabus can reach 120 mph in only 9.8 seconds, which is an amazing feat anyway you spin it.

And you get all of this starting at a measly 429,000 Euros. Translated into US Dollars, that's only $589,403 using the Euro-to-US Dollar FX rate as of September 13, 2011.

There is a lot to be said about this wonderful piece of machinery, and it really is, but I would prefer a more subtle body kit. In fact, I wish someone could combine the superb engineering of Brabus with the more subtle design. Well, there actually is a company that does it. It's called Carlsson. They are not as popular as Brabus, nor are they as extreme and in some ways that's good. Notice that the 2012 Mercedes Benz Carlsson CK 63 has a more subtle body kit relative to the Brabus. However, don't let the subtleness fool you, because under the hood this car produces 649 horsepower and can easily hit 60 mph in around 4 seconds. Below you will find some pictures of the 2012 Mercedes Benz Carlsson CK 63.

Two months after the announcement Mercedes CLS 2010 standard model at the Paris Auto Show, the next version of the design "grandiose" than the CLS-Class is also available on the shelves. That is the CLS 63 AMG version 2012 debut at LA Auto Show 2011.
